I had done this particular run several times and I was tired. And this one time I missed getting it right. We surfed into the hole and the boat flipped up and I went under, they didn’t know where I was. I popped up about 500 yards and I was rescued by one of the purple-and-pink safety kayaks swirling downstream. I said “I’m fine”, and I felt this kind of molten liquid feeling in my legs, and I had to get back into that boat and do it again. It was hard. Because everything in my body said “I don’t want to do it again!”.
